What is a software engineer?

A software engineer is an individual that takes his or her computer background and develops software solutions for the technology field. Once these software solutions are conceptualized, they are then applied to aspects of computer software engineering that include designing, developing, testing and evaluating the software itself, the systems they will be run on, components of the software and anything related to the computer software on the whole. Most of the time a software engineer is expected to go through extensive technical training in order to comprehend the systems they will work with. Conversely, only half of the software engineers in the technology field have received a specialized technical school degree in the computer science field. Less than five percent have actually competed in a targeted software engineering program. But as this field grows and competition increases, the need for a specialized degree from a technical school program becomes more relevant. If perusing a career in software engineering is something you are interested in then taking a deeper look into technical schools may be beneficial in learning more about the importance of software engineers in the technology field.
